Gig Guide: August

So much going on this month including the Food Show, Battle of the Bands and the Sky Tower turns 15!

Food Show

Calling all foodies, the Food Show Expo is heading to Auckland, being held at the ASB Showgrounds from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th. Admission is $25 and check out foodshow.co.nz for all the details.

Battle of the Bands: Regional Final

The Battle of the Band’s competition has hit its Regional Final, happening on 4th August at Kings Arms, Auckland. Make sure you go check out all the finalists; Ratsmagic is a favourite of mine!

Tonight Alive

Australian band Tonight Alive are heading to NZ and are playing one show at Zeal West, Auckland on Saturday 18th August. The ‘Starlight’ singers have been touring in America as part of Vans Warped and this will be their first show over this side of the ditch. Ticket prices are to be confirmed, watch this space.

Sky Tower’s 15th Birthday

Celebrate in style for Sky Tower’s 15th birthday. All admission prices are discounted for the special weekend – Friday 17th to Sunday 19th and lots of activities and giveaways for all involved. Take advantage of the birthday special and see the beautiful Auckland City from a great height.

Zeal Acoustics/Unplugged Session

Check out all the talent at this gig including up-and-coming kiwi musicians Geoff Ong, Sarah Foley, OdessA and Yasamin Al-Tiay as well as an open mic. This all age’s event costs $5 on the door at Zeal West on Saturday 31st.

Also a correction for the Zeal Acoustics - it is on Friday 31st not Saturday 31st. Hope you enjoy the month of August and get in amongst it all! :) - Hazel
