Flavour: Mexico, Britomart Review

Kimberley and I headed to Britomart’s latest restaurant addition, Mexico. The colours, music and décor in the restaurant really set the mood. We definitely felt like we were half way across the world in Mexico!

I personally couldn’t wait to try their highly recommended margaritas. In summer they usually have a watermelon one, however as they are out of season, the waitress turned our attention to the black plum margaritas. My favourite element of the drink was the cinnamon sugar sprinkled on the rim of the glasses – a lovely unique touch!

The menu is filled with small, very reasonably priced morsels. We ordered a few different things; two different flavoured soft tacos ($6 each), a quesadilla ($10) and their famous fried chicken ($12). Each item was more delicious than the last, and such great value for money! Plus the staff were absolutely amazing. They were so friendly and really made us feel welcome.

My favourite pick from the menu was…

Mushroom Quesadilla, amazingly simple and delicious. Two fresh, soft tortillas filled with tender mushrooms slices, served fresh from the oven with a lovely sour cream dip.

Come here with…

2 or 3 of your best girlfriends so that you can order lots of different things from the menu (including a jug of delicious margaritas) and share everything between you!

I will be going back especially for…

The dessert! They had churros on the menu, one of my all time favourite sweet treats! Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the churros as we were already so full, however, perhaps next time I go I will have dessert first to avoid that happening again!

Head down to Mexico for your next catch up with the girls – 23 Britomart Place, Auckland CBD.
