NZ Fashion Week: Day 2

NZFW: Andrea Moore

Today was the second day at Fashion Week; I saw Andrea Moore's show which debuted her Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection 'The Hunt'. It was beautiful; it had a historical feel with modern edgy colors and accessories. The collection was inspired by mid-17th century horse riders and old world tapestry (old fashioned fabrics). Because it was influenced by horse riders there were horse hoof sound tracks echoing in between song changes in the show and the models wore hats with horsetails which was awesome and ultra different.

The trends were about adding stand-alone pieces to any everyday outfit to make it pop. There was lots of fur, sequins or bright colors added to simple pieces. The bright colors were my favorite; the collection focused on colors like fluro pink/orange/blue/red and mixed the bright colors with neutral colors like beiges/whites/blacks. I liked them the most because it was something wearable to help dress up your everyday look.

My favorite example of combining the bright and neutral color look was a jean and jacket combo; skinny jeans with a neutral blouse and a unique bright cherry red trench coat style poncho. Here’s a photo from the show that is a great example of the use of color and accessories to dress up your everyday look. The good thing about this new trend is you can finally start wearing your favourite dressy accessories, jewellery, shoes or jackets, which you may not often get a chance to wear because they are too glam, but by adding it to something simpler you can jazz up your everyday and get more wear out of them too.
