Fashion how to: Op Shop

Sounds easy right? Well yes, generally it is but there are some key tips and things to look out for when undertaking the amazing activity that is op-shopping!

Op shops can be found nationwide in nearly every town, giving you huge potential in finding gold. Often you will find there are more misses than there are hits so here are my go-to tips to be successful:

  1. Be broad – you need to have an open, creative mind when sifting through all the items. Think how you could wear it, what you could wear it with, how you could change it up (cut, dye, tie, clip) etc, to make it amazing.

  2. Be patient – don’t give up if you don’t find anything you like at the first shop...op shopping is like a lucky dip, you will get the thing you want if you just keep trying.

  3. Be thorough – when you do find something with potential, be sure to look over it. If it is more expensive than what you would expect, look at the label as it may be a high-priced, good quality item. Also look over your garment for any faults....if there is a fault, make sure it is a cheap price and fixable.

  4. Take a friend – op shopping is addictive and you can start racking up a lot of things which isn’t always a bad thing....it is just a lot more fun with a friend.

Do you op-shop? If so where do you love going?
