Fashion Profile: Sally Martin

Sally Martin stars as Nicole Miller on Shortland Street and we asked Sally to describe her style, her fashion motto and trends she likes to see on guys!

Describe your personal style

I very much stick to what I love, and wear them til they’re worn out. I usually end up wearing black with a pop of colour – a bright top, patterned shoes or colourful jewellery.

Who are some major fashion influences in your life?

I don’t really look to other people, but stick to what I feel best in. I love my sister Gretchen’s style the most and wish that I had her eye and could put outfits together the way she can.

What is your favourite fashion motto that you always follow?

Only wear it if you feel good in it.

What is one trend you love at the moment?

I don’t really like trends on anyone – too many people follow what’s “in” and don’t think about what suits them. I do like all of the beautiful pastel colours around the place. It’s so nice for the summer wardrobe, as long as it’s not overkilled by everyone everywhere, which is the danger with fad fashion.

What trends do you love seeing on boys?

Not a trend, but the item of clothing I absolutely always notice on a guy are shoes! To me they’re more important to the outfit than his top. Pants are second for sure.
