Blog Central: Year 13 - Meet Alex!

My name is Alex and I'm going to be writing about my Year 13 experiences this year. I attend Christchurch Girls High and I'm 17 years old and obviously I live in Christchurch.
I have a jam packed year ahead of me including sports and theme days, sports, music, camps, exams (unfortunately) and eventually graduation! (Yay!)
My fellow Year 13's (all 222 of us) and I piled into the school auditorium on February 2nd for our first day ever as Year 13's. Aside from our very attractive school uniforms ;) we were almost all happy to reconnect with friends we hadn't seen all holidays. After discovering what form classes we had been placed in for the next year, we discovered, much to our horror that the Year 13 common room had been replaced with a classroom and we were left with almost no space for our mountains of gear and books. I have to share a lunchbox sized locker with my best friend Nicole so somehow we are supposed to fit both our equipment inside it. Not exactly sure how yet but I'm sure we'll figure it out.
For the rest of the day we attended countless assemblies providing us with information about making Year 13 great. Like being allowed of grounds at lunch, which apparently is a huge privilege. It also means we have so much more freedom. After and very exhausting day we were eventually released. Only to come back a day later for the start of normal classes.
First day of normal classes is always exciting and having had to go through it for four years already, I knew the drill. First day means timetables. It was always nerve wracking to see if you ended up with your preferred teachers. My subjects for the year are English, Physics, Chemistry, Geography (plus scholarship Geography) and Calculus so I'm in for a stressful year and heaps of hard work.
Although there will be heaps of working hard I'm sure, I've been in Year 13 for almost a week now and it's not too bad. No major assignments or internals yet but I'm sure those are to come. I'm looking forward to spending my last year at high school with all of my best friends together and making it the best year ever! Being the oldest (and quite possibly wisest) year group in the school definitely has it's advantages. I'm ready to make year 13 the best year yet and I'm ready to blog about every second of it. So whether you're in Year 13 or not follow me in my trip through Year 13.
Have and amazing week
Alex xx
