General Wellbeing: Smiling; Why It’s Good For You

Smiling; Why It’s Good For You

Attractiveness, infectious, confidence. 3 words that most effectively describe a smile and all three of them are completely true.

Smiling is something that we all do daily and will continue to do no matter how old we get. But of course you all knew that. However what a lot of you don’t know is how good it is for you. Sadly smiles don’t protect you from diseases or illnesses, but they can help you in other ways.

Attractiveness
Smiling makes you more attractive. It brightens up your features and can cause you to glow. Glowing skin is the envy of many people, and smiling can be a vital ingredient in achieving this. However smiling does not just cause physical attractiveness, it causes mental attractiveness as well. When you are happy and can feel the rewards (the positives) it causes you to be ‘in a happy state of mind’. So you see smiling can benefit you in 2 major parts of your life.

Frowning Requires More Muscles
It’s entirely true. When you frown you need to use more muscles. It has been confirmed that it only takes 22 muscles to smile opposed to the 37 muscles you use when you frown. I guess this is one case where it’s better to be lazy.

Frowning Gives You Wrinkles
Frowning also gives you frown lines. These normally appear between the eyes, just above the nose, across the forehead, in the corners of the eyes and above the mouth. So remember more smiling means less wrinkles!

Confidence
When you smile, you feel happy, right? When you frown, well you feel sad or even angry. So when do you think you feel more confident, when you’re happy or when your sad? If you guessed when you were happy, then congratulations, you’re right J If not then, um well you’re obviously not right. When you are confident and smiling, your skin literally glows and people can see this. P.S. girls a majority of guys really like it when are a girl is confident, and if they can see that you are confident then you may notice a significant increase of romance in your life.

Smiling Is Infectious
Completely true. When you’re around people who are smiling at you, it’s incredibly hard not to smile back at them. It works the same way when you are the one smiling, the people around you won’t be able to stop smiling as well. And face it, it’s more fun to be around other’s who are smiling opposed to people who are destined to have frown lines, also known as people who can’t stop frowning!

So now you know all the positive sides of smiling, well most of them anyway. So what are you waiting for? Go out there and beam up a storm!
