5 Ways To: Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

Not everyone is born with big eyes (sigh...) and unfortunately they are one of the few things on our body that don’t grow with age! So you’re stuck with the size you’ve got, I’m afraid. However, never fear... the good news is, we have a few tips and tricks that can make your eyes look bigger, bolder and more beautiful.
#1 White Eyeliner
Simply apply a little white eye-liner to your upper and lower lids and blend it in slightly so it doesn’t stand out – subtlety is best. The lighter colour around your eyes will give the illusion that they are bigger than they are. I don’t know the science behind it, but trust me – it works! It’s also the perfect way to enhance your eyes without wearing much eye make-up.
#2 Fake Lashes
These are a bit expensive and tedious to apply for everyday use, but they are perfect for those big nights out or special occasions. Longer lashes will instantly make your eyes stand out and look fantastic.
#3 It’s all in the eyebrows
Eyebrows you say? Yep, that’s right! Make sure that your eyebrows are plucked, groomed and shaped to perfection. You will notice a huge difference. If you have never groomed your eyebrows before then I would recommend getting a professional eyebrow wax so that you get the shape right, and then pluck them yourselves once stray hairs begin to grow back.
#4 Mascara, mascara and more mascara
Unless you are blessed with amazingly thick natural lashes (and if you are, I envy you deeply) then mascara is vital. It adds volume and length to even the shortest of lashes, which in return makes your eyes look bigger. Check out last week’s Beauty Blog which features some of our fave mascaras.
#5 Add a bit of eyeliner
Black eyeliner can be just as effective as the white, if not more, but only if you apply it correctly! Big, dark, sweeping lines are only going to make your eyes look smaller. Instead, make sure that your eye-pencil is sharp draw a line as close to your lashes as possible. It should be hardly noticeable – but just enough to give your eyes slightly more zing!

Try putting fake lashes on the outer edges of your eyes only. Trim the false ones to suit and blend in with your natural lashes. This is an amazing yet subtle way to make your eyes look super sexy.
