Beauty Blog: Summer Hair Care

Summer Hair Care

I’m pretty diligent when it comes to hair care (I use good shampoos and conditioners, never straighten my hair without applying a serum and try not to die it too often). Yet my hair is still suffering after a summer of sun, salt and sand.

It’s time for some intense summer hair care – let’s save our suffering locks and make them luscious again!

Use a Hair Mask
Sometimes shampoo and conditioner is simply not enough, especially for girls with long or frizzy hair. A hair mask contains extra nourishments that leave your hair feeling super soft and healthy. I recommend the Instant Melt-In Mask by Garnier Fructis – it is for dry, coarse or rebellious hair. And the best part about it – you can wash it out instantly! That means no waiting around in the shower or greasy looking hair. I love!

Put away the straightening tongs
I know that it can be super tempting to straighten your hair every day throughout a humid, muggy summer – but if you’ve just spent a lot of time at the beach, then try to resist! Go natural for a few weeks to let your hair recover. Try using straightening products instead such as Dangerously Straight by Herbal Essences.

Braid your hair for the beach
One of the easiest ways to protect your hair during the summer is to style it correctly. Pop it in a French plait or a messy top-knot to keep it out of the wind. Or stand out from the crowd and wear a stylish straw beach hat!

Rinse your hair with cool water
It’s so hot these days that you should all be enjoying the chance to have cool showers! Believe it or not cold water is actually fantastic for your hair because it combats frizz.

Head to the hairdressers
Last but definitely not least, head to your hairdresser for a trim if you start to notice split ends or broken hair cuticles. It’s hard to keep your hair looking healthy and to keep it growing if the ends are damaged, so make the most of having a great excuse to get a haircut!
