Could you describe a ‘typical day in the office?’ What does your job involve?

As a TRESemmé stylist no two days are ever the same. One day I might be styling a big fashion event like New Zealand Fashion Festival, and the next day I could be in the salon giving a lucky winner a TRESemmé hair make-over.

It must be exciting to be part of the New Zealand Fashion Festival. What will you be contributing towards the big event?

TRESemmé will have a team of eight stylists backstage getting the models runway ready every night, which I will be leading. There will also be a team giving attendees a hair make-over before shows, out the front of the venue, because TRESemmé wants everybody at New Zealand Fashion Festival to look runway-ready!

I’ll also be giving a masterclass seminar on how to re-create the runway looks from New Zealand Fashion Festival at home using TRESemmé products. I’ll be sharing some of my top styling tips and pointers on how to maintain healthy locks, because everyone deserves to have salon chair-worthy hair.

How did you land your job?

I won my role as a TRESemmé hair stylist at last year’s New Zealand Fashion Festival. It was an intense competition with eight professional hair stylists competing for the title, and I had to work hard to prove I deserved it. It’s by far the best thing I’ve done in my career and I haven’t looked back since.

What do you enjoy most about working in the beauty industry?

The variety of work and meeting new people every day is a great experience, but the best part is knowing that you’ve helped someone to look their very best, when they step out of the chair.

Get professional training first off, surround yourself with experienced professionals and make it your business to learn everything you can from them - then put your hand up for any opportunities that come your way!
