Step 1

Apply a concealer around your eyes - this is an important step, a concealer opposed to foundation will give you a thick and dense base for your eye shadow to cling to. Having concealer underneath will make your eye makeup stronger, and last longer.

Step 2

With a creamy eye kohl/pencil - simply colour in your eye lid with the pencil. This can be applied messily - as we will blend it out. The focus of this step is to colour in your eye lid with a thick layer of pencil to create a sturdy base for eye shadow to sit on top of.

Step 3

With a firm eye shadow brush, blend the eye pencil upwards and soften any lines away. This creates a smokey edge to the makeup.

Step 4

Next apply a black or dark grey eye shadow over the top of the black pencil.

To do this, use a firm eyeshadow brush and pat on the colour. Be careful not to flick your brush (or eye shadow will end up every where) - simply pat and firmly press the eye shadow onto your eyelid, completely covering the black pencil underneath. Then use a fluffier brush to blend the eye shadow, softening any hard lines and creating a blended, smokey eye makeup finish.

TIP:

A great trick to blending with a brush, is to use small circular motions, this blends in the shadow beautifully.

Step 5

Next: Eyeliner. With your black kohl pencil, apply along your lash line, and in the rim of your eye - apply this also to the top lash line for extra intensity. For extra long wear, apply with a eyeliner brush - the black shadow over the top of the pencil. This is called layering, and will ensure your eyeliner lasts longer.

Step 6

Finish with a double coat of thickening mascara.. Add a soft highlight underneath your brows - Beautiful Smokey Eyes!
