6 - Proudest achievement in life thus far?
There were 3 dreams I had as a kid growing up….. They were to play NRL, play in a NRL grand final and to represent the kiwis (New Zealand) in rugby league…… and to say I have achieved all three is a dream come true!
7 - If you could have one wish, what would it be?
To make the earthquakes go away from Christchurch honestly they need a break! Such strong and humble people.
8 - If you could get a message across to a large group of people who would those people be and what would your message be?
It would to be all those people who have helped me along my journey as a athlete….. My message would simple but hopefully effective and it would be thanks very much for all your time and support in helping me to achieve my goals as a person and as a athlete…. knowing people who have given their own time and support helps me drive towards being the greatest I can be!
9 - What were some challenges, difficulties and hardships you’ve overcome and how did you do it?
Probably the biggest challenge to over come as a athlete was when I moved from home to Sydney when I was young to pursue my career.
As a mummy’s boy ha ha I found it hard going from living at home and having everything done for me to becoming a grown man at such a young age! I had to grow up fast and mature quite quickly to fit into the environment I was living in but with the support of my mum, my grandparents and my sister and friends I came out the other side…
There were times I would ring mum crying cause I was home sick… but I knew I only had one shot at my goal which was to be a professional footballer… through the tough times my family were such a big support for me and I have to thank them for everything! If it weren’t for them I wouldn't be where I am today!
10 - What makes you feel great about yourself?
It would be all my family and the people of Christchurch (where I was born and raised) to know what they have been through and still going with the earthquakes…. Knowing I'm representing them each time I step out on to the field and hopefully by me doing that it is helping them take their mind off things and hopefully making them proud to be a Cantabrian! I certainly am!
11 - Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Professional: "Tough times don't last but tough people do"
Personal: Be from pop or mum "Make sure you eat all your veggies tonight so you can grow up to be big, fast and strong" ha ha ha.
